Where good work gets built

You have an idea. We build it, ship it, and keep it running.

We take a mobile app from the first sketch to the thing your customers open every day, and then run it for you. One point of contact, one bill, one number to call.

Who is behind it

Twenty-plus years leading technology programs inside Fortune 500 companies: portfolios worth tens of millions of dollars, delivery teams of a hundred people and more, systems used by hundreds of thousands of people every day. Full-cycle security testing before anything shipped. Compliance built in from day one. Straight answers delivered directly to the C-suite when that was the only thing that would do.

That is the discipline Westlight Works runs on. Not because a small app needs enterprise process (it usually needs the opposite) but because knowing what that process is for makes it far easier to know what to skip. More about the experience behind this →

The whole way

Five phases. We do all of them.

01 — Design

Work out what it should be

What it does, what it deliberately does not, and who it is for, settled before anyone writes code, with the design phase scaled to how complex that turns out to be. We are not just developers: years spent designing around how people and roles actually use software is what makes the result feel obvious instead of merely functional. A straightforward app moves fast; anything with real user data, multiple roles, or compliance requirements takes longer, weeks sometimes, and that shows up honestly in the timeline and the cost, not folded into one flat number for every project.

  • Full-cycle UI/UX, not just wireframes
  • Role- and workflow-based, not just screens
  • Global vs. domestic architecture
  • Data privacy & governance: GDPR, state, federal
02 — Build

Build it properly

iPhone, iPad and web from one codebase, built the way we would want to inherit it ourselves: no framework chosen for novelty, no cleverness that needs a meeting. The default is that we keep running it afterward, but it is built clean enough to hand off to someone else if that is ever what you want instead.

03 — Test

Prove it before your customers do

Automated and manual testing, run in rounds through the build, not saved for the end. Real devices, real data, the things that actually break: the empty state, the bad connection, the person who taps twice. Security and penetration testing before anything ships, every time.

  • Automated + manual test rounds
  • Security & penetration testing
  • Full regression after every build
  • Your review before anything releases
04 — Deploy

Get it into their hands

App Store and Play submissions for consumer apps: review, the privacy disclosures both stores gate on, and the release itself. For internal tools and enterprise systems, deployment means your own infrastructure, access controls and a rollout plan instead of a store listing. Either way, it is the paperwork and process that stops most good software from shipping, handled and not skipped.

05 — Operate

And then we keep it standing

The part almost nobody includes, and the part that decides whether any of the rest was worth doing. Your app is not handed over as a folder of code with our best wishes. It stays live, and staying live is our job. It is the half most people skip.

  • Servers, database, backups
  • Monitoring that wakes us, not you
  • Certificates and renewals
  • Store accounts and yearly fees
  • OS updates before they bite
  • One bill, no surprises

Built the way the work actually happens, not the way a template assumes it does.

What we build

From a single screen to enterprise-scale systems.

Consumer and lifestyle apps

iPhone, iPad and web from one codebase, with accounts, sync and subscriptions.

Portals for small companies

The thing staff or customers sign into: bookings, records, requests, approvals.

Replacing the spreadsheet

The one file the business runs on, turned into something that cannot be overwritten or lost.

Internal tools & enterprise-scale systems

The same discipline, pointed at one system built to last. See what we build →

When we answer

Two clocks, not one.

Something is down
4 hours

Any day, including weekends and holidays. Usually we already know: the monitoring alerts us before a customer notices.

Everything else
1 business day

Questions, changes and requests. Monday to Friday, US Central, excluding federal holidays.

Why us

The things nobody asks out loud.

You own the code. We help you leave if you ever want to. New features are quoted separately, never folded into a surprise invoice.
