Who we are
Westlight Works is an assumed name (d/b/a) of Caisson Holdings, LLC. Write to inquiry@westlightworks.com about anything on this page.
Visiting this website
This site is a set of static pages. It runs no analytics, sets no cookies, embeds no tracking pixels, and loads nothing from an advertising network. Nobody is building a profile of you here, and there is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
One thing still happens, as it does on every website in the world:
- Server logs. Our host records that a request happened, roughly when, which page, and the IP address it came from. We do not use these to identify anyone; they exist so a fault can be diagnosed and abuse can be stopped. They age out on the host's own schedule.
Everything else this page needs, the typefaces included, is served from this domain. Your browser contacts nobody but us to read it.
Writing to us
If you write to us, by email or through the contact form, we have your email address and whatever you chose to tell us. We use it to answer you and to keep a record of the conversation if we end up working together. Our email is hosted by Microsoft.
The contact form works differently from email, so here is exactly what it does. When you send it, your name, email address and message, and anything you put in the other boxes, are saved in a database we run with our hosting provider. We also save the type of browser and the country the request came from, which we use only to spot spam. A copy is then emailed to us, through an email delivery service, so we know it arrived. We save it first so that a message cannot be lost if the email fails.
We keep a form message for 12 months after the last message we receive from you, and then we delete it. The copy that reaches our inbox is ordinary email and stays until we or you delete it.
We do not add you to a mailing list, because we do not have one. If you ask us to delete an enquiry, we will, and that covers the saved copy and the email.
If we work together
Building and running software for a client sometimes means handling systems that hold other people's data: your customers, your staff. Three things hold there:
- Your data stays yours. We are handling it on your instructions, for your purposes. In data-protection terms you are the controller and we are a processor.
- The written agreement governs it, not this page. That agreement sets out what we may access, what we must protect, how long we keep anything, and what happens to it when the engagement ends.
- We do not use it for anything else. Not to train anything, not to improve our own products, not as a case study without your written permission.
Where the work involves personal data of people in the UK or the EEA, we will sign a data processing agreement. Ask and we will send one before the work starts rather than after.
Who we share with
For this website, the contact form and our email: our hosting provider, Microsoft, and the email delivery service that sends us a notice of each form message, and nobody else. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for advertising, and we have never received a payment of any kind for anyone's data.
Anything we publish to an app store carries its own privacy policy, listed on that store page and inside the app itself.
Where it is kept, why we hold it, and how we protect it
We are based in the United States. Messages sent through the contact form are stored, and our email is handled, in the United States, so if you write to us from elsewhere your message will be transferred there.
We handle what you send us because you asked us to reply, and because we have a legitimate interest in running our business and keeping a record of the conversation.
We protect what we hold with two-factor sign-in on every account that can reach it, encryption in transit, and by keeping the personal information we collect to the minimum we need.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you can ask what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy, or object to how it is used. Write to inquiry@westlightworks.com. We do not charge for requests and we answer within five business days. If you are in the UK or the EEA and are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to your data protection authority.
Children
This website is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this ever stops being true, if we add analytics, or a mailing list, or anything else, this page changes first, and the date at the top changes with it.
